A Typical Summer Saturday

Oi! Where does the time go! It's been a busy couple of weeks for me and I have lots of fun things to share! I am working on a few layouts that I cannot wait to share with you! A concert, a short mini vacation with my girls, just to name a few things that I have been up to. I will post about each of them this week so make sure to keep checking back! But never fear! I will leave you with our new Saturday routine around here.

Now that it's summer, the girls and I have a little tradition of our own. Saturdays mean bubbles,

slushies,

and chalk fun all wrapped up into one. Throw in some water sprinklers and all is good in the Brodeur household.

And now my dear friends, I must bid you adieu. I finally got my hands on the first couple of DVDs to the True Blood Season 2 series!!!!

So, for tonight, my scrapbooking supplies will be neglected so that I can engross myself in the life of Sookie Stackhouse and her crazy but fun adventures in a world full of vampires and other things that go bump in the night.

Until later,

Taste the Rainbow

Goooooood morning everyone! Today I am going to share with you my version of the May theme for the GCD Facebook Gals. This month is all about color blending! I am on a huge misting kick lately and this theme was just perfect for it! Here is what I did.

First I created a circle mask with a scrap piece of 12x12 paper. I then sprayed my masked circle with Maya Road mists in Salmon, Lemon, Tangerine, Orange, Bubblegum, and Blue Corn. I sprayed about 1 -2 squirts of each color, slightly overlapping the colors as I sprayed them. Once the mists were dried, I used several papers from the Homespun Chic line and one from the Artsy Urban line to create my layout. Without further ado, here is my end result...

Supplies: Paper: GCD Studios, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabet: BasicGrey,
Mists: Maya Road, Bling: BasicGrey, Pen: Martha Stewart Crafts.

Here is a close up shot of the misted circle and a detailed shot of a portion of the layout.

Thanks for stopping by and be on the lookout tomorrow on the GCD Facebook page for more color blending inspiration and fun techniques!

Who would of thought

This past weekend, my mojo left me. I tried to scrap and nothing would come. Then I remembered that Crate Paper was hosting its first sketch on their blog. So I dug through my stash for my Crate Paper and sit down to create. After a few minutes of moving paper around, mojo finally came back. Yay! Here is my take on the sketch...

When I was doing my daily blog surfing and checked the Crate Paper blog, I was beyond happy to find out that my take on the sketch was chosen as the Crate Paper sketch winner!!! Holy smokes!!! I was soooooooo excited that I had to get off of my chair and do the happy dance. I am beyond thankful! It was the perfect Mother's Day gift!

Monday! Monday! Monday!

Me and Mondays do not like each other. Around here you see a lot of frantic running around the house with me trying to get my two little girls along with myself ready to head out the door. I am getting better at it. I normally only run about 5 minutes late now thank goodness but it is still a very panic-ridden-hurry-up-and-get-out-of-the-door morning. That being said...I did have a good Mother's Day yesterday.

I spent my Mother's day at my mom's. She had several ladies over and there was much cake and coffee to be had. Yum! After the girls went to bed for the night, I spent the rest of my evening doing one of my favorite things....scrapping! Woohoo! *giggle*

Speaking of scrapping, head on over to the Scrapstreet Blog and check out this post to see how I created the patchwork piece on the following layout.

Supplies: Paper: American Crafts, Studio Calico, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabets: Cosmo Cricket, Flowers: American Crafts, Mist: Maya Road, Paint: Making Memories, Punch: Martha Stewart Crafts.

I have to admit, I am obsessed with patchwork pieces lately! They are SO much fun to create! Here is another layout I did featuring patchwork.

Supplies: Paper: GCD Studios, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabets: Jenni Bowlin Studio,October Afternoon, Pen: Martha Stewart Crafts, Other: tags.

I'll have more crafty stuff to show later this week, but right now, it's time for me to run out the door!

Until later!

In the Blink of an Eye

Sometimes when I am creating a layout, I do not have the perfect flower on hand. Either the color is not right or the size is too small. Instead of running to the store to buy the right kind of flower, I like to create one with the supplies I have on hand. Today I am going to show you a super simple flower that you can make with a felt border strip, crocheted flowers, and a brad.

First you will need to take your border strip and cut out 2 sections.

Next you will to place the 2 sections on top of each other as shown below.

Choose one of the crocheted flowers, place it on top of your sectioned border strip, then fasten it all together with your brad.

And just like that you have a quick, one of a kind flower for your layout.

I used the flower as an embellisment on this layout. It was super easy, quick to assemble, and just the perfect touch for my layout. Have fun creating flowers with your felt borders. Link me up with your creations. I'd love to see them!

Supplies: Paper, Felt, Crocheted Flower, Brad: GCD Studios, Alphabet: BasicGrey,
Leaves: Prima Marketing, Punch: Martha Stewart Crafts, Floss: DMC.

Scrapstreet's NSD Blog Hop

Happy National Scrapbooking Day everyone! Today is one of my favorite days of the year! Who would of guessed that there is a whole day dedicated to all of us scrappers! How wonderful! How are you going to spend your day? For part of the day I am going to scrap in the scrapping/playroom. If you are like me, you like to have challenges to spark your creativity. Well today is your lucky day! Scrapstreet is having a fun little blog hop with some of its team members. Check out the Scrapstreet Challenge Forum to get those creative juices flowing! After you have created your masterpiece, don't forget to posted it in the Scrapstreet Gallery. Some of the challenges even offer prizes or little RAKs! Woot! Who doesn't love to win something? Don't forget to stop my the Scrapstreet blog. There is another challenge posted there as well as a digital freebie!!! Yay!

After you have exhausted yourself creatively, grab a cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and enjoy the May issue of the Scrapstreet magazine. Sooooo much eye candy in there!
