SFTIO July Sneaks!

Check out these yummy sneaks of the upcoming Communication kit from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. I have a few layouts sneaked here. Can you figure out which ones are mine?

Tomorrow, July 1st, is the unveiling of this fun kit! Make sure you stop by and see the layouts by the DT members and maybe pick up a kit of your own. I had a lot of fun playing with this kit and can't wait to show you what I created with it!

My Little Mini Me's

This month's guest designer at Webster's Pages was Jennifer Gallacher. I just love her clean style! I was inspired to create this layout about my girls from one of Jennifer's layouts.

One thing I have noticed with my girls is that they really look up to me. They like to copy me in every way. Whether is the way I talk or act. When I scrapbook or cook. They are like little mini me's. Sometimes I like to sit back and see how they react to each other. I see so much of myself in them. I sometimes forget how important it is to keep a happy attitude and just really be there for them. Not a day goes by where I don't give them a big hug, kiss them goodnight, and tell them how much I love them.

Corset Progress

As promised, an update on my corset progress….

So far, I am really pleased with how it’s coming along. I am taking it slow and making sure I do the steps as correctly as possible. The first major part I decided to tackle was sewing in the busk closure. Let me tell you that I was worried I was going to break the needle as I was sewing but, as luck would have it, that did not happen. The only issue I had was that my material bustled up a bit when I sewed the “stud” portion of the busk. Even though it’s not perfect, I think I did a mighty fine job on my very first go at corsetry so far!

Now that one of the hardest portions of the corset is done, I get to move on to sewing the panels together. I am so happy that I decided to put a black damask panel in. I think it will go very well with my Steampunk Poison Ivy theme.

I am starting to sew in the boning channels and clean up the corset. I'll post another update once it's complete. Here is the what the corset looks like so far.

I am loving the green and black!

Summer Time

Around here summer times means vacation, water, movies, and some laziness thrown in for good measure. Last month we took our annual trip to the Great Wolf Lodge. This year we actually went down the slides instead of just playing in the kiddie pool and the lazy river. Both of the girls absolutely LOVED the slides! While we were in Grapevine, we also went to the zoo and a few museums. I am slowly working on scrapping this fun moments. I have completed two so far using the Palm Beach collection from Webster's Pages.

I have also made some more progress on my corset. I'll post an update in the next couple of days.

New Adventures

I have been in full creative mode lately. I received my first kit from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. It's a really fun kit and I have already finished two layouts and have two more in the works. I'll show you a sneak peek in the next week or two. In other news, I am working on making a costume. Actually a couple of costumes but right now I am focusing on one at a time. First up is a corset. I have never made one before. Heck it's been years since I have really sewn anything so this is going to be one big adventure from start to finish. I bought a pattern and traced it on some scrap material. So glad I did because it was way too big and I had to do some adjustments to it.

Here is the lovely material I am using for the corset.

I unpinned my mock up pattern and began tracking it on my material.

And so begins my adventures in corsetry. I will post updates on my progress. Keep your fingers crossed that the corset comes out decent looking. Either way I'll be proud of myself for accomplishing this daunting task!

Pretty Little Princess

When I was little, I watched the wedding of Princess Diana with my mom. Afterwards, I too wanted to grow up to be a princess. It did help that she had the same name as me. I think lots of little girls dream about this at one stage of her life or another. My girls are no exception. Here is a layout using Webster's Pages Girl Land to document just such a moment in Jaina's life.

Since I am sharing a little truth about myself, I thought you might be interested in the new Scrapbooking From the Inside Out kit called "Truth". It's full of gorgeous blues and yellows. A perfect summer color combo!
You can see more detail shots of the kit here. That's it for me. Time for a little relaxation and an episode of Grimm.
